"Retrace your steps,” said Mom.
So, Grace is making the rounds.

When Grace misplaces her beloved toy caterpillar, she brings us along on a magical journey through her day to find it. As we walk through Grace's world, both she and the reader discover that sometimes the most important things are found in the most unexpected places.

Perfect for young children of all ages, this picture book invites readers to dive into Grace’s world of make-believe, teaching them valuable life lessons of imagination, adventure and play along the way.

Why You’ll Love It

Grace Retraces Her Day is more than just a story about a lost toy. It's a celebration of childhood curiosity and the power of imagination. Through playful storytelling and vibrant illustrations, this heartwarming book helps children understand problem-solving, compromise, and the joy of family. The book was a finalist in the American Writing Awards Children's Book International contest in the "adventure" category, and the 2025 Literary Global Children's Book Awards in the "realistic fiction" category.

About the Author

CHERYL LOCK has known since the third grade when she read Robert C. O’Brien’s Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH that writing — and writing children’s books, more specifically — would be in her future. Eventually, she moved to Manhattan to follow her writing dreams, working for newspapers, magazines, and websites. Although this is her first children’s book, her work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Forbes, Parents, and loads of other places. She lives in Colorado with her husband and three daughters.
